Experience Unbridled History...
Music has long been an important aspect of the quality of life in Kershaw County. The Community Concert Band is one example of the community’s love of music. The band has some 40+ local musicians, who participate in several public concerts each year to the enjoyment of all in attendance.
There are several musical events and festivals throughout the year. The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County produces and hosts a large number of these events. The Fine Arts Center presents the Bluejeans, Bluegrass, BBQ & Oysters event to start the Colonial Cup Steeplechase Festival Week, as well as the very popular Carolina Down Home Blues Festival annually.
Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site is the host for the well appreciated Jammin’ in July. This outdoor concert invites attendees to come to the event with lawn chairs and picnic food to enjoy live entertainment under the stars.
The Fine Arts Center hosts other such music events as: Charles Wadsworth Chamber Music Series with four concerts during the year. The Camden Community Theatre presents fine musical productions from time-to-time. The Center also provides music programs for Kershaw County schools through their Arts in Schools Program.
Several restaurants in the community feature live music and a little karaoke for their customers. Our festivals, The Elgin Catfish Stomp and the Bethune Chicken Strut all feature a wide range of music.
Kershaw County’s people enjoy music! Visit our festival pages and the Calendar of Events for more information on music events around the county.
